Hunan Legend Biotechnology Co LTD, founded in 2017, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the researching, developing, designing and manufacturing of bio-chips with application in in-vitro diagnostics. Its products include bio-chips, relevant reagents and accompanying laboratory instruments. Located in Changsha, Hunan, the company occupies a research center of 2500m2 and a manufacturing plant of 4000m2 with automated production lines, capable of manufacturing over 10 million bio-chips annually.

Hunan Legend Biotechnology assembles a team of highly-educated and skilled personnel, constituting of founding members working in the bio-pharmaceutical industry over the past few decades, over 100 employees with backgrounds in 30 various fields, and 58 employees in R&D. The company has applied for over 100 patents (including 61 invention patents) and has been granted 8 invention patents. Ranked as the top 5 institutes applying for bio-chips-related patents in China in 2021, Hunan Legend Biotechnology continues to push forward the research and development of bio-chips, seeking to establish a leading bio-chip R&D base in the country.

Hunan Legend Biotechnology’s bio-chips actualize true whole blood testing while utilizing the conventional chemiluminescence reaction, making it a globally pioneering product. The first generation of protein-detection bio-chip (Single-Marker Testing Bio-chip) is capable of testing for one medical indice of choice, with results comparable to leading products in the market. This product has been installed in several Grade-A tertiary hospitals in China. The second generation of protein-detection bio-chips  (Multiple-Marker Testing Bio-chip) is capable of testing for several medical index, which is an innovation on global level. It has also been installed in Grade-A tertiary hospitals in China. In addition, PCR-detection bio-chips for multiple-marker testing are currently in development.

As a Hunan Provincial Base for Scientific and Technological Innovation Cooperation, Hunan Legend Biotechnology has received support from various national and provincial departments, such as the “Technology Advances Economy” Key Project from the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has carried out R&D project from the Hunan Department of Science and Technology, and is in the progress of completing the “Jie Bang Gua Shuai” / “Leading the Charge with Open Competition” Project of the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology. Furthermore, the company continuously collaborates with researchers from the Hunan University and the Central South University.

With a strong technological capability, Hunan Legend Biotechnology has attracted attention from leading corporations in the bio-pharmaceutical industry and investment funds, and has obtained financing from them. The company has participated in the season four of “I will Invest”, a national TV program on venture capital investment where entrepreneurs present their businesses to various institutional investors. The company was placed second in the national finals.
